A landmark judgement by the Delhi High Court striking down Section 377, which criminalises consensual sex between two individuals including same gender(for the perverts, goats are still a No No), was the cause for a bittersweet moment for me. It was actually like watching a kid growing into adolescence; you are happy for him growing up but sad because he would lose his innocence.
India is finally growing up, accepting certain facts of life to which it was in deep denial. Don t get me wrong, I believe gay sex is as unnatural as Michael Jackson’s face, both creeps the shit out of me, except for lesbianism (wink!).
This verdict has changed everything, the truth that homosexuality is no more a closet truth and the sheer number of people involved puts a new perspective to an otherwise naive and innocent India. On the other hand, I am proud of India being mature enough to take such a decision. I view this as a step towards becoming a country that values freedom and faces truth than deny it.
I just hope the fanatics, that this country is so famous for, grew half a brain and join the programme.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteDont get me wrong, but as jus a critic...
When i heard this news i was like ..this is cheap.. seriously.. one reason is that it will increase the number of gays and gayism and the other is that the children will understand this in a wrong way... i dont agree to this... if ppl are so attracted to each other.. do it at ur home.. u dont need to show the world... as it is same for your girl friend u dont need to show to the world.. u jus know that u both love each other thatz it... The reason for making this more public and active will have an ultimate change in human existence and human psycology... i hate to say this but i am worried... for the future.. and the future gayism in India.
i guess most of us will hv 2 different views on dis...one,pride for India's maturity & second, a denial or rather an aversion towards homosexuality!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Vickram,
ReplyDeleteHow r u man?
Let me first thank you for your critique. I just want to clarify that the verdict only allows people to perform sexual acts privately, public displays are still illegal and the legality of co-partnership in India is still to come through.
Indians have often been in the forefront of sexual exploration. The temple carvings of yonder would prove that gays, lesbians and even bestiality were often accepted as a way of life. Somewhere along the way, we lost our broadmindedness.
